BSNL employees will donate on day salary for Jammu & Kashmir relief


The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations of Non-Executive and Executive, the united organisation of the unions/Associations in the telecom PSU, BSNL representing about 2.5 lakh workers, has called upon all the BSNL Employees to donate one day salary towards relief to the people of Jammu & Kashmir who are facing unprecedented floods and natural calamity.
 

The forum has also called upon the BSNL employees to make all out efforts to restore the communications in the J&K, which has been seriously damaged due to floods.

Free calls and SMS to BSNL customers in Srinagar area 
 
In the hour of  natural calamity faced in srinagar area, Government owned Telecom giant BSNL has announed free telecom service to its mobile customers using the network in the Srinagar area of J&K. Not only those customers who belong to that area but also the BSNL customer from other states of North Zone reaching Srinagar area for relief and rescue operations will be able to make free calls i.e. local as well as STD calls  and also free SMS while they are in Srinagar area. This facility has already been made available since night of 11th September, 2014 and will continue for next 10 days.

Director, BSNL Board Shri Anupam Srivastava stated "Free call arrangement by BSNL will really help people, who are already starnded and badly affected due to the worst flood situation as they cannot move to any place for recharge or topup of their balance. Thre are no retailers or points wherefrom people can get their accounts topped up. Botheration for usage charge becomes a hurdle for other persons involved in rescue and relief works. BSNL has, threfore decided to help people in that area by providing free call and SMS service with immediate effect."
